When choosing a 2008 hairstyle, remember to consider the shape of your face, since the right style can enhance its beauty, while the wrong style can make anyone, even celebrities, look less than their best.

There are several basic face types, and most people fit into one of these categories, or at least some combination of two or more. These types include oval, round, rectangular, pear shaped, diamond shaped, and square faces.

Oval face shapes are considered to be ideal, since people with oval faces can wear almost any hairstyle. How do you know if you are an oval? Oval faces are as long as they are wide, with a forehead that is slightly wider than the jaw. Celeb ovals include Brittany Spears and her sister Jamie Lynn Spears, Anne Hathaway, and others.

Round faces are easily identified by a round chin and short length of the face. The best style for a round face is one the creates height at the top of the head and minimizes hair width by keeping it flat at the sides and also around the ears. Celebrities with round faces include Queen Latifah, who favors sleek, razored cuts that give her cheekbones a high, tapered look.

If you have a rectangular face, you have a square chin and a hairline that is long and narrow, so your ideal hairstyle would be one that creates width at the sides while disguising the narrowness, possibly with bangs and a side part. Jennifer Anniston and Courtney Cox are just two of the famous Celeb Friends who share this unique and interesting facial structure.

Pear shaped faces are characterized by a narrow forehead and a wide jawline, and work best with face framing, layered styles that emphasize width at the forehead and temples and give the illusion of an oval face.

This face shape is also sometimes referred to as a heart shaped face, and Mandy Moore and Christina Aguilera are among the many celebrities who share this face type.

Diamond shaped faces are characterized by wide cheek bones and narrow foreheads and chins, so the best hairstyles for this face shape are those that create width at the forehead and minimize the cheekbones.

If you need inspiration, Reese Witherspoon is one of the most often photographed celebrities with a stunning diamond shaped face. Rest assured that whatever your face shape, there is a style for you that will flatter and compliment your natural bone structure.
